Planning

I have served on the Planning and Transportation Committee for the past 12 years. I have participated actively in the development of the last two local plans with a primary objective of making the City a leader in sustainable development. This focus (shared with other members of the local plans committee) has led to the City having a substantial stock of very high quality buildings offering the highest sustainability standards. I serve on the following:

•   Planning and Transportation Committee

•   Planning Applications Sub-Committee

•    Local Plans Sub (Planning and Transportation) Committee

•    Streets and Walkways Sub (Planning and Transportation) Committee

Principal Accomplishments

• Delivery of an innovative carbon optioneering requirement to help determine what development on any particular site would be most sustainable

• Development of a sustainability Supplement Planning Document

• Supporting the development of the City’s high quality office stock while ensuring protection of the best and most important of our historic environment

My current focus is on

• Further improving our sustainability standards, particularly ensuring that the required carbon studies do what they are intended to do and don’t just add an expensive requirement to the planning process
